PPIs (omeprazole, etc) are already associated with a higher risk of pneumonia...Clostridium difficile diarrhea...and fractures. They might also decrease the ability of bisphosphonates to prevent fractures.
Now new Rx labeling will warn that long-term use of PPIs may cause hypomagnesemia...possibly by decreasing magnesium absorption.
